Cisco SPA Setup Guide

How to configure Cisco SPA IP phone series with Telzio's zero-touch auto-provisioning service.

This guide pertains to IP phones in the Cisco SPA series.

If your device was previously used with a different provider, you'll first want to do a factory reset on the phone.

Steps to provision Cisco SPA phones with Telzio:

  1. Log into the phone's web interface
  2. Update the phone settings
  3. Configure the user with the phone
  4. Set the SIP settings

Log into the phone’s web interface

  1. On the phone, press Settings then 9 to find the phone’s IP address
  2. Type the IP address into your web browser to get to the phone’s configuration page

Update the phone settings

  1. Click on Admin Login in the upper right corner of the page
  2. Click on Phone
  3. Under Line Key 1, Line Key 2, and Line Key 3, change the Extension value to 1

Configure the user with the phone

Click on Ext 1 and enter the following settings:

  • NAT Mapping Enable: Yes
  • NAT Keep Alive Enable: Yes
  • SIP Port: 5060
  • Proxy: sip.telzio.com
  • Register: Yes
  • Register Expires: 3600
  • Make call without reg.: No
  • Ans call without reg.: No
  • Display Name: Your Name
  • User ID: The username for the User
  • Password: The password for the User
  • Use auth ID: No
  • Preferred Codec: G711u
  • Use preferred codec only: Yes

Set the SIP settings

  1. Click on the Advanced in the upper right corner of the page
  2. Click on SIP
  3. Under RTP Parameters, set RTP Packet Size to 0.020
  4. Click on Submit all changes, and the phone will restart and be ready for calling
