How to Send Telzio Alerts to Slack

Integrate Telzio with Slack using Zapier. This guide walks you through three easy workflows to automatically send Telzio alerts to Slack in real time.

If you use Telzio for your business phone system and Slack for team communication, you can use Zapier to connect the two - automatically sending call alerts to Slack in real time. Whether there's a missed call in the sales queue or a customer service-related voicemail, you can ensure your team has eyes on it.

This guide walks you through three common Zapier automations to integrate Telzio with Slack, along with step-by-step instructions.

What you need to integrate Telzio+Slack

  • A Telzio account with at least one active phone number
  • A Slack workspace and access to the desired channel
  • A Zapier account
  • At least one voicemail (no older than 7 days) available on the Voicemail page.

Integration 1: Notify a Slack channel when a voicemail is left

What it does

When someone leaves a voicemail, your Slack channel receives a message with the caller’s number and voicemail link.

How to set it up

  1. (Skip to Step 3 if you've already connected your Zapier account to Telzio) Log into Telzio as the account owner and navigate to the Integrations page and click on the Zapier integration.
  2. Click on Install > Get Started to connect your Zapier account.
  3. Once you have successfully connected you Zapier account with Telzio, log into Zapier and click on Zaps > "Create"
  4. Trigger step
    • App: Telzio
    • Event: New Voicemail
    • Account: Select your Telzio account that you connected to Zapier in the last step.
    • Click on Test Trigger for Zapier to fetch any available voicemails to confirm this step is configured properly. You'll need to select one of the voicemails returned in order to proceed.

    If Zapier returns No data found or no voicemails are displayed, please contact Telzio Support.

  5. Action step
    • App: Slack
    • Event: Send Channel Message
    • Account: Connect your Slack account by clicking on Add new account and following the steps displayed. Click Continue once you have selected your Slack account.
    • Choose a Slack channel (e.g., #customer-support).
    • Leave the defaults for the following options:
      • Add Zapier app to channel automatically? - Yes
      • Send as a bot? - Yes
      • Link Usernames and Channel Names? - Yes
      • Send Channel Message? - Yes
    • Message Text:
      • Enter any custom text you'd like sent in your Slack message.
      • To include dynamic fields (Caller number, Caller ID, Date, etc.), click the + symbol inside of the Message Text editor and insert the desired fields from the 1. New Voicemail in Telzio step of your zap. This will ensure that those fields automatically populate in your Slack message when triggered.
  6. Once all required fields are filled, the Continue button at the bottom of the Action will become available. Click on Continue to proceed to testing (highly recommended).
  7. Click on Test Step to verify your Slack message can be delivered and is formatted to your liking. Making any changes by returning to the Configure stage.
  8. Test the action and click "Publish" to activate your Zap.

Integration 2: Post an alert in Slack when a new call comes in

What it does

Sends a real-time Slack message when an inbound call is received. This helps your team prepare or follow up quickly.

How to set it up

  1. (Skip to Step 3 if you've already connected your Zapier account to Telzio) Log into Telzio as the account owner and navigate to the Integrations page and click on the Zapier integration.
  2. Click on Install > Get Started to connect your Zapier account.
  3. Once you have successfully connected you Zapier account with Telzio, log into Zapier and click on Zaps > "Create"

    • App: Telzio
    • Event: New Call
    • Account: Select your Telzio account that you connected to Zapier in the last step.

What it does

    • Event: New Voicemail
    • Account: Select your Telzio account that you connected to Zapier in the last step.

    • Leave the defaults for the following options:
      • Send Multi Message? - No
      • Send as a bot? - Yes
      • Link Usernames and Channel Names? - Yes
    • Message Text:
      • Enter any custom text you'd like sent in your Slack message.
      • To include dynamic fields (Caller number, Caller ID, Date, etc.), click the + symbol inside of the Message Text editor and insert the desired fields from the 1. New Voicemail in Telzio step of your zap. This will ensure that those fields automatically populate in your Slack message when triggered.
