A simple IP paging system sends a one-way voice announcement over your existing VoIP network to each IP desk phone you choose, with no extra hardware needed. An intercom system opens a hands-free conversation through those same phones, letting both parties speak and listen without waiting for someone to pick up.
Telzio makes both features plug-and-play. Turn on auto-answer in the phone settings, dial the * codes, and your paging and intercom setup is ready in minutes.
What is an IP paging system?
- Uses VoIP and SIP to send one-way audio to many phones at once, riding on the same internet connection you already use.
- Avoids bulky amplifiers or PA racks unless you later add ceiling speakers, since most small teams can rely on their existing IP phones.
- Works with Power over Ethernet so one cable can supply both data and power if you choose PoE-capable devices.
Paging systems - easier than you think
- Instant reach – one code broadcasts your voice to everyone or a single group.
- Zero extra cost – paging and intercom are included with your Telzio service, and internal extension calls are free.
- No new hardware – Yealink, Grandstream, Cisco, Polycom, and other SIP phones can auto-answer after a quick setting change.
- Easy to grow – add phones or create new paging groups in minutes through the Telzio Dashboard.
Paging vs intercom: key differences
Paging
- One-way audio
- Best for broadcasts and alerts
- Dial *84 for all users, or * plus the group extension for a department
Intercom
- Two-way audio
- Best for quick conversations
- Dial * plus the individual extension, or use a programmed intercom key
Quick dial codes with Telzio
- Page everyone: *84
- Page one team: * + group extension (for example, *200 pages the Sales group if Sales is extension 200)
- These shortcuts let a manager speak company-wide or to a single department without hunting for mobile numbers.
