Getting started with contacts
Learn how to view, create, edit, save, and message contacts in the Telzio Mobile App, including shared and device contacts.
Contacts
The Telzio Mobile App brings shared contacts and contacts saved on your phone together in one place. Shared contacts are visible to everyone in your workspace, while contacts saved on your phone are not shared with your workspace.
Viewing your contacts
Open the Contacts tab at the bottom of the Telzio Mobile App, then select the Contacts tab at the top, next to Company Directory.
- Tap the filter icon in the top right, immediately to the left of the + icon, then choose All, Shared, or Device.
- In the All view, contacts and organizations stored in Shared Contacts show a Shared label.
- Tap a contact to view its phone numbers, email addresses, and other available details.
- Shared organizations can also appear in the contact list. Tap one to view its details and associated contacts.
Contacts are separate from your company directory, which lists the internal users and extensions in your company.
Creating a contact
- Tap the + icon in the top right of the Contacts tab.
- The first time you create a contact, choose where it should be saved:
- Choose Shared contacts to make it visible to everyone in your workspace.
- Choose This phone to save it to the contacts on your phone.
- The app remembers the destination used for your most recently created contact. To choose a different destination, tap Change next to Saving to.
- Enter a Name and, optionally, an Organization.
- Tap Add phone or Add email to add contact details.
- Tap Add Photo to take a photo or choose one from your photo library.
- Tap the green checkmark in the top right to create the contact.
Shared contacts require a network connection to create or update. If you choose This phone, the app opens your phone’s Contacts app to complete the save.
If you enter an organization without entering a name while saving to shared contacts, the app creates a shared organization instead of a person.
Editing a contact
- From the Contacts tab, tap a contact to open it.
- For a shared contact, tap Edit to change its name, organization, or photo, or to add or remove phone numbers and email addresses. Tap the green checkmark to save your changes.
- For a device contact, tap Edit to make changes using your phone’s Contacts app.
- Use the call, SMS, or mail icons on the contact’s profile to reach the contact using a saved phone number or email address.
- If more than one suitable number or email address is available, the app asks which one to use.
Saving new contacts
- New contacts can be saved to Shared contacts or This phone. Check the Saving to row and tap Change if you want to use a different destination.
- From a call’s details, tap add contact to save an unknown caller or recipient.
- From an SMS conversation’s details, tap Save to Contacts to save an unknown number.
- The phone number and any available caller name are added to the new-contact form automatically.
- If the number already belongs to a contact, the app offers to open the existing contact or save it as a new one.
Texting a contact
- Start a new message, then select the Contacts tab and choose a shared or device contact. You can also search for the contact by name.
- Tapping a contact starts the conversation using its primary message-capable phone number.
- If the contact has additional message-capable numbers, tap +N more and select the number you want to use.
